Greater Scranton YMCA is part of a nonprofit organization of over 2,700 Ys located in 10,000 communities across the United States dedicated to strengthening the communities that they serve. With a focus on developing the potential of youth, improving individual health and well-being, and giving back to and supporting communities, your participation brings about meaningful change not just within yourself, but also in your community.
The Greater Scranton YMCA aims to foster strong children, families, and communities through its programs. Our summer camp embodies these ideals, providing a nurturing environment where campers can thrive mentally, physically, and spiritually while having fun. Our skilled camp staff guides campers through engaging activities that promote growth and learning.
The Summer Camp Program is built on clear objectives that shape our approach. We focus on nurturing these principles in each child and enhancing their interactions and relationships with peers.
The core principles of our Summer Camp include:
- Encouraging personal growth in spirit, mind, and body
- Cultivating socially positive habits and attitudes
- Fostering a love for nature and the outdoors
- Strengthening family bonds through active participation of parents and guardians
- Supporting ongoing educational development through our Summer Learning Program
